There have been some requests to keep this board up.

It was my intention to just meet up and have some fun for a little while. And I want to say NO.
But that would be rather dickish so I will leave this open for discussion.

My hope was to possibly do something like this around Pats birthday every year. It was just a thought after I started the ball rolling. I only knew for sure I felt compelled to do it this year for reasons I can't even explain. I wanna say I felt Pat behind me pushing me to do this, but thats just a tub of lard.

I have to say I like how the place looks and how it was created as a tribute to Patrick, who contributed so much to our experiences online during the days we shared with him.
K, no more shmaltzeyness. But I am being sincere. I felt doing this reunion thing with us gathering together under his name was proper and right. Necessary? Not at all. But sometimes i do stuff before I really think about it. Probly most times.
I had no idea if anyone would respond and I can say I was pleased some did, and who they were.

Now, I also have to say i have no desire to hang at a message board. But I do feel I have a need for interaction online as opposed to the way people seem to communicate online these days.
Which is just people shouting out shit to the world and not really expecting or requiring a response.

I joined facebook and twitter because I had to. Yoko Ono was doing this project and I wanted to get involved. So I signed up for both. Lemme say this about them:

Twitter: WTF is this? Its a place for people to shout out shit to the world. That's all it is. "LOOK AT ME! I THINK THIS! I DID THIS! I WENT HERE! I SAY THIS! LOOK!". wtf?
I don't think I'm interested in ANYONE enough to know what they are thinking and doing and saying and where they are going during different times of their day. Who the fuck gives a rats ass? Is this an ego driven thing? Is it like one big ego monster and people are feeding it? I just don't get it. I had a little fun when I joined. I tweeted to the world to please leave me alone and went thru the list of tweeterees and added a bunch that I liked, but I don't think I've gone back since and I could never see hanging there waiting to see what some idiot wants to profess to the general public.

I got an Email yesterday saying " "Anna McLean is now following you on Twitter".
Why?! Why Anna? I don't know you, Im pretty sure I don't wanna know you, and I never tweet. I don't wanna say stuff to the masses, tyvm. WTF? twitter is a waste of time and space, of bandwith and browserbits, of brain cells and bird calls.

Facebook: FB is a different story. FB is kinda kool, and also kinda scary. The way anyone can look you over...kinda creepy. But I have found long lost friends and lovers and some of the same have found me (and I don't even use my real last name). Kool and also a lil scary.
I don't really use it the proper way, I'm pretty sure, but it is a place to communicate with others. I think you miss more than you catch there. And some conversations I would rather not have on my wall. Cuz everyone can see your wall. And its bad enough people like relatives, your ex, your boss, a co-worker, etc, can. You can have private conversations but as far as I know they can only be one on one, like an MSN chat box. Its good if you want to have a few private conversations, but not for interacting with a group.
Maybe FB could serve us if we created a FB page just for us. That might work. But I dunno. I'm more used to the way a MB works, I guess. I don't want things to get any faster for me, I'd prefer they slow down. FB is okay and a good way to communicate but not, to me, a community place. Its more like a "LOOK! HERE I AM! LOOK AT ME!" place.

So that brings us back to keeping this board up.

I enjoyed myself here, even if it was such a small interaction between so few.
I look at that member list and I feel so kool cuz there are those people I used to hang with online, all in one place again. That list of names, to me, is a very impressive turn out for PDs BD party.

But only a few are actually posting. Look, this shouldn't be like pulling teeth and if we have nothing to say, then so be it. It's no big deal.
We could keep this up just so I can talk trash (his neighbors) with Steve but he and I could easily do that on FB or over MSN (and I do wanna stay in touch with you Steve. Your one thing that hasn't changed, and that's a good thing).
So why should we keep this place up?
Even the people who requested it to be kept up don't seem to have anything they wanna say.

We could all just agree to meet at one of the existing boards, even though I can tell you I don't know if I'm interested in doing that. I can't say I'm interested in hanging here, lol.
I kinda regretted starting this after I did and wished I hadn't. But Steve made me feel at home in the way only he can. And touching base with T and LVG was very nice. And Lakerat can actually be very funny,...who knew? ;) And now I'm glad we did this.

There is no way I'll be as involved with MBs like I was back in the day. Just don't have the interest. But popping in here once every day or two throwin up a yak might not be a bad thing. Just let the place run itself cuz I'm not running it. And that's certainly doable the way this is set up.

So instead of just saying NO!, I'll leave this subject open for discussion.

I'm good with whatever is decided. With so few members I can't imagine it needing any governance so nothing really needs to be done to keep it going... except posting.

BTW... great post title, though I am slightly disappointed. I thought you were going to give some studly advice.

I'm in! I'm like you, I prefer the message board format for a group chat, hug, rant, fight, etc. over facebook for the same reasons you mentioned.
I'll check in every day that I can. That said, I would like to also add anyone that wants to, to my fb friends, I'm listed under my name - Brenda Ferrell.
I guess I've never 'twittered' or 'tweeted' just because I didn't truly understand what it was, so thanks for the info on that Z, now I don't want to more

Coming here and seeing old (yes, OLD) friends, lovers (Vegas...), and people I've had the pleasure of speaking to on a personaL basis has been awesome. Yeah, I vote to keep it up. I haven't enjoyed cybersex since HTown stopped going online and having an audience we can gross out while we have it is the ultimate orgasm. It's better than sex with the homeless in back of missions or illegal aliens in Home Depot parking lots.
